After all, you men gave kept us women out of good jobs for centuries. I believe that if a man and a woman both go for a job and the woman is similarly (or less) suited for the job, she should get it. Women have a lot of catching up to do in this male dominated society.

No I do not. I can and have competed with men for jobs and have the credentials to get one with out AA. In my state AA is illegal.

‘The Sex Law’ may have been watered down but forced marriage, domestic violence and rape still define life for most Afghan women. Now a fledgling women’s rights movement is determined to change that legacy.
It’s more than 8 years since the Taliban ruled Herat but for many women here, life has barely changed. In this refuge called Voice of Women, Suraya tries to combat the abuse of women under President Karzai. ‘Forced and child marriage has not reduced since 2001. Its still a common practice’ says Suraya. For those not lucky enough to make it to her shelter, prison is the alternative. Young girls are charged with running away from home and adultery. ‘Here rape is considered adultery’ reveals Suraya. 12 year old Nadia says she ‘doesnt know how to live’ anymore after being raped and charged with adultery. Earlier this year President Karzai passed a law stopping women from going out without men, restricted their power of divorce and enforced sex at least every four days. He reviewed the law after local and international pressure. But for those brave enough to fight for women’s rights, the stakes are getting higher – the Taliban are targeting and assassinating activists. ‘I would like to suffer today for women’s rights’ says Suraya. Will the womens rights movement be able to turn the democratic process to their advantage?

If a girl hasn’t really been raised to watch out for certain things, or just unaware of things about other people, how does she educate herself? By learning from other older women? What if older women are her competition? Are there any books, or anything on how women are to survive in this world?

Community schools, and continuing education programs usually off courses like the one your are asking about. Your local police departments will give talks to local groups of women on this subject also. Check with the police community affairs rep in your area.

OK, so these products have been around for a 100 years at most. What have women been doing throughout history? Like, what did women do 500 years ago in England? Come to think of it, what do women in extremely poor countries do now?

There are any number of absorbent materials which can be used to catch menstrual fluid. Mostly, women used rags, which they soaked in cold water and then washed and reused. Soaking in cold water will remove most of the fluid. Washing a protein stain (and that’s what menstrual fluid is, a protein stain) will generally "cook" the protein and set it. This is also what people did in the days before disposable diapers.

If you’re really interested in learning more, you can visit the online Museum of Menstruation. This site does discuss menstruation frankly, so don’t click the link unless you’re prepared to deal with it. I don’t consider anything on the site to be especially shocking, but I’m less easily shocked than most people. http://www.mum.org/ Apparently, it’s having some internet connectivity problems this weekend, so keep trying.

Even today, some women prefer to wear re-usable pads. There are patterns available on the internet for sewing up such pads.

Interestingly (or at least, *I* find it interesting), the pads we use today were developed as bandages, to absorb the blood of war wounds. Someone had the bright idea that these things could also be used to absorb menstrual fluid, and thus an industry was born.

I would like to open a business that is just for women. I would like to get women’s opinion on what they would like to see in a store setting that hasn’t been put into action yet. I would like to cater women of all race and size. Tell me what you think.

I always have a problem finding pant in the tall length both dress pant and blue jeans. And dress shirts that are long sleeve never go to my wrist.

So I would say Tall Pants and Shirt in Tall Size.

I have noticed that so many women check out other women’s legs when they are wearing skirts when I am at work. I find this bizarre because you wouldn’t get men checking out other men’s legs. Why do women do this? And I was just wondering how women felt about other women checking out their legs? Do any women like other women checking out their legs?

I have no idea why but I check out other girls legs all the time… I think it is nice for women to appreciate nice features on other women so I don’t mind when other girls look at my legs either.
At the end of the day if they are wearing a skirt someone is gonna look at their legs so why cant i be one of them?
I think girls are just naturally more likely to check out other women’s features cos we tend to be a little bit more comfy with our sexually and we know it doesn’t mean we r gay just because we can appreciate a set of hot legs.
