How can I comfort my dog during pregnancy?

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

She is having her puppies in 3 weeks. How can I comfort her?
I mean how can i compft her know.

My girls are usually really clingy during the last few weeks of pregnancy. They like to follow me around & lay right next to me.
Make sure she has a nice comfy place to lay and has plenty of fresh water at all times.
Also, make sure she has a cool place to stay out of the heat.
Don’t give her too much strenuous excercise at this time. Just a short daily walk.

How do I comfort my fiance after he has heard some devastating news?

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

My fiance recently received some devastating news reguarding his young daughter. How do I comfort him….Do I just give him some space or smother him with love and support?

well it depends on how he deals with stress. My husband actually gets more upset when I try to comfort him because it makes him feel smothered. He’s better if just allowed to sit and have some thinking time, but he likes if I stay near. Eventually he gets to the point when he has calmed and cleared his mind enough to be able to talk about it. So really it just depends on how he needs to deal with it. If you’ve never had this situation before and aren’t sure, you could try a little comfort–sit by him, hold his hand and tell him you’re there for him (or whatever is natural for you)–and if he doesn’t seem to respond to this that just back off but make sure that he knows if he needs you then you’re there. Sometimes it just takes patience on our parts as women to wait until our men are ready. You might get lucky and he is responsive to comfort. Either way, I wish you good luck and I hope everything works out. I send my prayers your way!

What are engineering challenges to develop solar energy for comfort/home uses?

What are engineering challenges to develop solar energy for comfort/home uses?

Solar is an old technology now and is fairly developed. Cost is a bit of a barrier but that is coming down quickly. Production scale could also be considered a barrier, as the industry can’t yet make enough solar panels to satisfy demand. The panels themselves are limited in how much energy they can take out of the sun’s rays, but they are getting better at this. Materials are a big thing now, mostly in trying out different materials and structures in the cells to bring down the cost and boost the efficiency.

Invitation to Ray Comfort

Monday, June 14th, 2010

So I extended the offer to Ray Comfort of Way of the Master for a discussion.
The invitation was meant to be private, but he initially published it on his blog before deleting it.

Ray Comforts Blog, ironically called ‘Atheists Central’.

http://raycomfortfood.blogspot.com/2009/06/question-from-skeptic.html

As the matter has essentially become one of public discourse (almost item one when you type in Ray comfort and thunderf00t into google) I have little problem in discussing it here.

I will be over in the LA region sometime over summer and extended the invitation to Ray for a discussion. Not a debate I find those to be kind of pointless summaries of two positions. A discussion allows individual points to be pursued to a logical conclusion.
It also allows it to become clear when people are evading answering the question.

Comfort Women

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Comfort women is a euphemism for women working in military brothels, especially those women who were forced into prostitution as a form of sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. Around 200,000 are estimated to have been involved, with estimates as low as 20,000 from some Japanese scholars and estimates of up to 410,000 from some Chinese scholars, but the exact numbers are still being researched and debated. Historians and researchers have stated that the majority were from Korea, China, Japan and Philippines, but women from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, and other Japanese-occupied territories were also used in “comfort stations”. Stations were located in Japan, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, then Malaya, Thailand, then Burma, then New Guinea, Hong Kong, Macau, and what was then French Indochina. Young women from countries under Japanese Imperial control were reportedly abducted from their homes. In some cases, women were also recruited with offers to work in the military. It has been documented that the Japanese military itself recruited women by force. However Japanese historian Ikuhiko Hata stated that there was no organized forced recruitment of comfort women by the Japanese government or military. The number and nature of comfort women servicing the Japanese military during World War II is still being actively debated, and the matter is still highly political in both Japan and the rest of the Far East Asia. Many military brothels were run by private agents and supervised by the Japanese Army. Some Japanese historians, using the testimony of ex-comfort women, have argued that the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy were either directly or indirectly involved in coercing, deceiving, luring, and sometimes kidnapping young women throughout Japan’s Asian colonies and occupied territories.

How to comfort a boyfriend whose dog is being put down?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

He’s known her all of his life, her health is failing. How can I comfort him? What should I say?

Don’t say anything. Just be there if he needs you, and give him his space if he needs it. Men shut down emotionally in times of sadness (we don’t handle extreme emotions well); Women communicate and commiserate. To try and force him to communicate will only make him angry. If you absolutely have to say something, try "She’s a great dog because she made you happy."

How to comfort a friend after a death of a close person to them?

Friday, June 4th, 2010

It’s about my girlfriends gradnmother, she passed away this morning. I haven’t seen my gf the whole day for she is at home with her close relatives, however she told me that she would like to go out afterwards. I need some advice how to comfort her for she is very emotional and upset. Thx in advance

Sometimes talking about it makes it worse and sometimes it may make it better, she may just need a comforting shoulder to cry on at one point. From what I’ve experienced with friends losing someone close was to take them out to get their mind off the death, take your girlfriend out to have some fun, make her laugh.
